EMBARKATION DAY

EMBARKATION DAY

First, I am going to apologize in advance about the blog - for some reason, I cannot access the blog on my IPad - neither to read or to edit so pictures will be out of order and some blog entries may be too. When I go on one of the ship's computers, I can see the blog as you see it and Blue said her link worked so will continue to post.

We met our friends, Bill and Sandra, for breakfast and it was like no time had passed between our last seeing each other two years ago. Lots of hugs, laughter, and conversation. It was wonderful to see them again. After breakfast, we checked out and boarded the bus for Southhampton. Traffic on the Motorway was terrible - it wasn't an Autobahn! More like the Queensway at rush hour. We went through boarding procedures at the terminal, were greeted with a glass of champagne on the ship, proceeded to the computer room to get our internet account set up, to the library to get reading material for the journey, lunch on the pool deck, into our luxurious and spacious room, unpacked, attended the obligatory lifeboat drill, dressed for dinner and met Sandra and Bill in the Observation Lounge for drinks with the other Solo Travellers. We found that the others in this group were anxious to get to dinner and attend the shows and the four of us like to take our time over our drinks, eat late, and skip the shows which we find to be mainly much too loud and very amateurish. We decided to try the different lounges until we find a favourite haunt.

Bill and Sandra were informed earlier that we could eat at the Pacific Rim specialty restaurant that night - the dining room was very crowded so room was available. We over-ate but enjoyed the Asian specialties. We didn't find the food quite as palatable as the Asian restaurant on Crystal but it was still good. We managed to close the restaurant being the last to leave - brought back memories of my cruise with Nicole.
