OUR FIRST DAY ON THE RIVERBOAT, TREASURE
OUR FIRST DAY ON THE RIVERBOAT, TREASURE
After reviewing the program for today, we both came to the same conclusion. We are going to skip it. The day as planned was to meet at 8 am, depart for Amsterdam at 8:20, visit the Rijks Museum, have lunch on a canal cruise, return to the Rijks for a bathroom break, spend 2.5 hours on our own exploring areas we have already seen or shopping, then 2 hours on the bus to meet up with our boat at the next port. The day began at 8 and ended at 5:30. Just writing about it exhausts me.
Last night we were seated with a couple who refer to us as the Champagne Girls - they saw us at breakfast yesterday. Keith and Sue are English and we enjoyed meeting them. They also like to eat late - everyone else goes in as soon as the dining room opens. Sincerely we knew we could sleep in, we finished the evening in the Panoramic Lounge with Brandy Alexander's for dessert - after closing the restaurant.
We think we are the only ones on the ship today. We awoke just as everyone was departing, had a leisurely coffee and are now waiting for breakfast to be served in our room. The skies are blue - no clouds - the temperature is to be 84 degrees F today. We plan to explore the boat, avail ourselves of the use of the hottub, maybe watch a movie in our room this afternoon or maybe even enjoy a nap. We have one of our full length windows open and Norma is busy entertaining me with the sights - there's a man in a speedo, our boat is bigger than your boat - you get the drift.
