WALK, WALK, AND MORE WALK

WALK, WALK, AND MORE WALK

After a good night's sleep, we finally made it down to breakfast around 8:30. There was a wide choice of fruit, cereal, yoghurt, cheese, meats, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc., etc., etc. In addition we were offered a glass of Moët & Chandon Champagne. We could also order from an extensive menu a number of prepared to order dishes. I elected to have the Dutch pancake (crepe). Delicious. The hotel even has real maple syrup! A great start to the day.

The hotel tour was very brief. We learned that during its 150 years it went through stages from ritzy to almost bankruptcy but it was refurbished in the 1950's when two stories and a new front lobby were added. The stairs from the ground to first floor were wide to allow ladies to pass each other on the stairs (their skirts were very wide). Also, the first floor was the most desirable to stay on as all the bathrooms were on the ground floor.

After that, we decided to walk the jogging routes. We figure we walked at least 6 miles only getting lost a couple of times and were gone 3 hours. Visited some very nice parks as well as the Jewish Quarter. After lunch, we plan to rest and take it easy before heading out again for supper.

We received our information from Tauck. Luggage goes at 10:30 tomorrow morning, checkout is at noon and we don't get to the ship until 3:30 and into our cabin until later than that. Another hurry-up-and-wait day.
