BELGRADE, SERBIA

We really enjoyed our walk to the main square in Novi Sad, Serbia. This town on a Monday evening was packed with families and young people enjoying the lovely evening strolling and sipping drinks in the street cafes. I'm afraid we tourists stuck out like sore thumbs. We didn't find any sites worth taking pictures of but appreciated the vitality of the place.

This morning we arrived in Belgrade. I had hoped that the Internet service would be better here but no such luck. Haven't received any e-mails for two days and cannot send my pictures of Budapest to the blog.

This morning we are taking a bus tour of the highlights of Belgrade such as the Kalemegdan Fort, the Tito Memorial, and St. Marko Church. Then it's back to the ship for a 4th of July Picnic on the sundeck. We will skip the optional tour of the shopping district in exchange for a nap. There is to be a performance of Serbian Folklore before we head to the Royal Compound of the Crown Prince of Yugoslavia for a tour of the compound, reception, and dinner.

Ask us if we are looking forward to a day of cruising the Danube.
